Be careful when judging this beer. There is German and licence brewed Beck’s. You cant beat the original from Germany and I bet if I transported a container load of Beck’s brewed in Australia to Germany and it took three months it still would not taste like the real mc coy.
You can still buy imported Beck’s at some liquor store around Australia. Obviously there is a demand for the real German Beck’s or else why would someone import it. Is he stupid or are Australians beginning to use there senses when drinking beer and can tell a good drop.
The Beck’s brewed in Australia is so called identical to that brewed in Germany. I may go as far as agreeing with the ingredients in the recipe are the same and the water has been manipulated to suite but what about the hardware. I can be pretty certain that the German breweries have much more sophisticated and advanced (you would think after over a thousand years of brewing)equipment therefore will produce a better finished product.
As for a good German beer Paulaner Salvator is a good 1 if you can stomach a dopplebock or Erdinger Dunkel.
I prefer a malty beer some people are hop heads there are so many beers and so little time!
