A very good copy of a German Barvarin crystal wheat beer. Obviously filtered as a wheat beer will never clear out naturally. I’m a bit upset as when Redback was origianaly brewed in the 80’s it was a huge 5.2% in alcohol. But then C.U.B bought it and reduced the alcohol content. This was obviously to reduce the cost of production as to reduce the alcohol you require less malt. I’m glad they didnt make it cheap like there other brews such as VB MB by adding sugar such as dextrose or sucrose.
Probably the beer that change brewing in Australia. And probably Australias first ever Premium beer. Its just a shame it is a German copy so we can say it is our own but what the heck we call every thing Aussie like yer the Fins but they from NZ haha.
Very low on bitterness and could do with that extra malt to add boost flavour and head retention.
A good drink on a summers day.
