“Lion Nathan are taking the p*ss out of devoted Stella fans.
Bottles, too, of Stella Artois in Australia are NOT apparently being imported from Belgium any more as I see it now carries the ‘BREWED UNDER LICENCE’ moniker.
To no great surprise doesn’t taste like it did the last time I purchased it, in the same way the locally brewed on-tap stuff never tasted remotely like real Stella Artois in a bottel did.
Heiniken went the same way quite a while back, and is about as Dutch as I am.
The joke is on the punter in that both area still is priced as if, and try to give the impression that, Stella is still a ‘Belgian’ beer, but no only in ‘brand’ in reality.
Perhaps Lion Nathan import Hops and Water from Belgium, but I think not somehow.
I used to buy Stella by the case but I simply don’t bother buying it now, and stick with German beers.”
