James Boag’s Premium

Unredeemed by its definitive raspberry aroma, James Boags Premium rated only average on our beer tasting scale. Its dissatisfying, short aftertaste didn’t help matters.

Beer test results for James Boag’s Premium

In a blind test, our beer tasters came to the following conclusions (keep in mind, this was beer #19):
Appearance: Clear and clean, golden Pilsener look.
Aroma/Bouquet: Sweet and fruity, raspberry smell.
Taste: Medium bodied, low carbonation, short aftertaste.
Summary: Average.

In a blind test of James Boag’s Premium, our tasters commented:

“I’m drunk but this smells like raspberry.”
“Ditto.”
“Totally sweet and raspberry but dissatisfying, short aftertaste. A bit of acetone at the end. On the second sip, I’d say there is some black currant in this.”
“Too little carbonation. Tastes dry. I’m drunk too.”
“Dry taste, a bit cidery, but yes… quite the raspberry smell.”

This beer is as fresh as a Tassie mountain stream. Crisp, yet bold with a pleasant aftertaste. My first choice of Australian beers.
